Clopay Torsion Spring System Functionality

The unique thing about the Clopay torsion spring system is its design. The spring is mounted over the shaft, but not in the center. It is set to the side and connected to a winder which sits next to the drum. It is important to note that most residential overhead doors including double ones have just one torsion spring usually installed on the left side. At the same time, the torque, which is released during opening, is still applied to the drums on both sides so that the panels can be lifted properly by the cables.
